In the months of chaos following the release of the devastating N4 virus, scattered groups of police, military, and civilian survivors found themselves working side by side in order to survive. These small militias were devoted to protecting the various scraps of turf they had managed to hang on to during the onslaught of the living dead and hostile people.
Unfortunately, this intense urban warfare cost over sixty percent of the lives of those quartered in the areas the militias were protecting when not drunk or otherwise engaged, and reduced said areas into piles of singed blood-stained rubble.
After heroically trying to hang onto these destroyed areas and protect the few remaining civilians for an estimated twenty three minutes, the vast majority of the militia that was to eventually be the Vigilante clan deserted once they ran out of alcohol. The few remaining members, being the most loyal fighters, police officers, soldiers, and civilians too intoxicated to move decided to ditch the wasteland and their stronghold for a better location.
They gathered the few civilians still alive and began an agonizing three and a half mile walk to a mattress store in an attempt to find safe haven and regroup. Within a few hours, a survivor known only as "Crazy Bob", who apparently was in the Navy Seals, SAS, and a best friend of a famous splinter cell, set the mattress he was lying on ablaze when he dropped a cigar filled with a mysterious green substance. The screams and smoke alerted all zombies within a 10 mile radius of their presence, and in the confusion a large carton of ammunition caught on fire, killing many survivors.
The survivors of that incident are now scattered across the city, trying to regroup across a landscape filled with hostile factions, undead humans, and zombie killers.

….The virus wiped out everyone in our squadron besides the Sergent and I. Most of our men were killed instantly but the rest turned into walking corpses, we had no choice but to exterminate them. We gathered as much food and weapons that would fit into a police car we found and headed out to search for survivors. We journeyed long and far, and found many survivors many of them stranded civilians,officers, and military personal. We gave them safe haven and equipped them to head out to search for any person still alive in distress. We became known as the Vigilante, the group of survivors with one mission, to search and rescue survivors, insure the safety of survivors, and exterminate the infected…..We struggle day in and day out to survive and we will not go out without a fight to the finish.
