1. What happens to my character after I log out?
Don't worry, according to present information your character is off server, he just won't stand there waiting for Noobs to kill him, and you won't gain any hunger either. But be warned, leaving in the inner city by means of logging out could get you killed.
2. What kind of stuff can I buy from vendors? There will be no NPC vendors according to the
creator.
3. Will there be cars? No, though it has been suggested many times. As of now, there won't be cars be implemented in the game, and if they do get implemented, you won't be able to use them in the city. The main reason they would not be implemented being, that all vehicles would've been destroyed from the outbreak and looters.
4. Will you be able to have your own strongholds? As of right now the Admin has released fairly little information on
barricades/forts/strongholds. It has been said in the past by the
creator that he does not wish to give individual players the ability to fortify buildings on their own to keep the entire city from being fortified.
5. When is this full game coming out?
The full game is scheduled to be released sometime during Christmas.
6. Will this game be download or browser based?According to the admin/creator himself the game will be 30% browser and 70% client. The 30% is presumed to be composed of the majority of the RPG aspects as it will run the chat client, statistics, equipment page etc. But the client will be open at all times and you will be able to fight zombies about all the time. AdminPwn has mentioned adding a client in the future.
7. How do I use styles like bold or italics? What's the forum code for quotes and links?message= Bold
[i]message[ /i ] = Italics
Underline = Underline
Link = Link
Quote+Name
= Quote
8.Can I play as a zombie?Admin says that this option will most likely be ready for the initial release of the game but may be included in an upcoming update.
9. Isn't this game supposed to be an MMO? Why can't I find anyone else in the city? (obsolete)The game is still a beta, and as such, multiplayer functionality has not yet been added to the game due to unresolved security and server lag issues.
AdminPwn has estimated that multiplayer may be added by the summer, but this may be subject to change. (obsolete)
The game does have multiplayer, but it is buggy right now and most people you will see on screen will be controlled by the AI due to syncing issues.
10. The help file mentions missions and zombie attacks on the outpost. What are those like, and how do I get involved?
Those features have not yet been implemented.
11. How does food work?
Your nutrition level will constantly decline unless you keep your character nourished with food. Once your character is "Starving," he or she will suffer a 25% penalty to all stats. Your character will not gain hunger while offline.
12. Help! I'm gaining experience very slowly! What's going on?
You're probably higher than level 11 and less than 75% nourished. If your nourishment is less than 100%, then you will gain half the experience you would get than if you were fully "Nourished."(See next question)
13. Food doesn't help me anymore! Why not?
Again, you are probably greater than level 11; at this point, you need to eat food that has a level equal or greater than yours in order to be fully nourished. Lower quality foods will sustain you and keep you from starving, but will not raise your nourishment higher than 75%. For example, at level 14, crisps will not get you past 75% nourishment, but fruit juice can.
14. How do I partner with someone? There are no more partnerships anymore.
(obsolete)You must specifically go to a person's profile and click the "request partnership" button. Then that person must click your profile and click the "accept partnership request" button. When someone has requested a partnership with you, you will be notified by PM.(obsolete)
15. How does partnership work?
You and your partner must decide on a password. Then you and your partner makes a room in mutiplayer with the password you came up with. You can have 6 people in 1 room at a time.
16. I have all this cash. Why can't I buy things in the shop? What are credits, and how do I get them?
Cash is in-game money. This is used for trade with other players. See the next question for details on how to do so. Credits are earned by donating to the game, which is vitally important to provide for server costs and for allowing
AdminPwn to do luxurious things like eat and not be homeless while managing the game and a recent marriage. Some people also are willing to buy you credits for lots of in-game cash. The rate is USUALLY 500 credits for $100,000 in-game cash.
17. How do I trade with other players?
To trade with another player, you must go to that player's profile screen and click the "trade" button. Go to the buying and selling forums to see offers from other players. The selling forum moves particularly quickly with many items being bought shortly after being posted.
18. Why does the map never work for me?
The map opens up in a new window. You probably have pop-ups disabled. Turn off your pop-up blocker. Don't worry, Dead Frontier has no ads for now, and as long as donations come in, maybe it won't ever have to. In Firefox, the button to enable popups is in the bottom right hand corner.
19. I use Firefox, and I've disabled my pop-up blocker, but I still can't get the map to work!
Firefox comes with it's own internal pop-up blocker. You must click the button at the very bottom right of the browser window. It should be a tiny square with a red x in it. It'll only appear -after- you try to open the map. Click that x after you hit the map button. Then click "allow popups for s1deadfrontier.net."
Alternatively, you can go to Tools --> Options --> Content --> Block Pop-ups (Exceptions) and add "s1deadfrontier.net" manually from there.
20. What is the CB radio? Why isn't the CB radio not working for me?
The CB radio is functionally a chat-room for Dead Frontier players that's accessible anywhere, even in the city (as opposed to the forums, which are not). It opens in a new window, so, as with maps, turn off your pop-up blocker to see it.
21. How do I tell how powerful a weapon is?
Generally speaking, the higher the skill required to use the weapon, the more powerful it is. If a gun, it depends on the bullet it uses, but it's still being proven.
22. Help! I'm being mobbed by zombies EVERYWHERE! What the hell is going on?
There are several factors that influence zombie spawning. One is noise. If your weapon is loud, (pistols, machine guns, chainsaws, and shotguns in particular), you will draw much more attention. Slashing weapons are generally quieter than blunt weapons, while knives are the quietest of all. Rifles are relatively quiet for firearms.
Also, if you are outside too long or venture too far away from the outpost, expect to see stronger and faster zombies.
22. Where do I find items?
Looting is random. It has been confirmed that the farther away you are from the outpost, the better your loot will be, but beware. The zombies will be more vicious the farther you are from civilization.
23. How do I heal?
Some items like Plasters and Antiseptic Spray can be used right out of the box, so to speak, even if you're not a doctor. They can be used outside the city. However, since they're excellent items for an emergency situation, they tend to be more expensive than other items.
Other items, like the Steri Strips or Bandages, require a doctor of the skill level specified on the item. YOU must have the item in your inventory, not the doctor. Either loot one or buy one. Steri strips regularly appear in the selling forum. If you are not a doctor, you'll need to go to the outpost and find someone to use one on you.
To do this, have the item in your inventory and find a doctor. You can either make a post in the "Buying" section to find out who's available, or just try checking random doctors and going to their trade pages to see if they're doing jobs. Most doctors charge no more than $15, but higher level doctors will charge more.
24. How do I use my class skills (doctor, chef, engineer)?
On your inventory screen, you may click the "set price" button at the bottom right to set a price for people to use your services. After doing so, you may change your hiring price or make yourself unavailable using the "change price" and "cancel sale" buttons in the same area, respectively.
Doctors must be at least level 5 to apply steri strips, the lowest leveled item that requires doctor assistance to use.
Engineers must be at least level 3 to fix the flak jacket, the most basic armor.
Chefs, on the other hand, must be at least level 15 to cook the lowest leveled foods that require a chef which include french fries and pizza.
Every time someone uses your services, you will gain 3% hunger, unless you're an engineer, in which case you will gain 5% hunger. If you are starving, you will not be able to be hired until you eat some food.
25. According to the help file, farmers and scientists are able to create food and medicine respectively. How does that work?
This happens automatically. For that to work you need to log in once a day. You should find the new items in your inventory provided that you have the space for them every 24 hours. Remember that you still need chefs to -cook- the food and doctors to administer most medical treatments.
26. What happens if I die?
You'll lose all the cash you have on-hand. Remember to keep your cash in storage at the outpost to avoid losing it. You'll also lose 1/3 of your level's required exp. On top of all that your hunger and health both restet themselves to 50%("Fine" for hunger and "Injured" for health).
27. What is a clan? How do I join one?
At this stage, clans are informal groups of players who share a commonality of purpose, whether this simply means enjoying the game together, helping each other out, role playing, or all of the above. There is no official process to join a clan at the moment, although clans may become a game mechanic in the future, as the records board once included a "Top 100 Recruiters" list.
If interested, check out the Clan Discussion forum where you can either ask a clan to admit you or start a new thread for a new clan of your own.
28. What is the enhance button, and what does it do?
The enhance button makes a selected weapon master-crafted for $20,000 or a selected armor master-crafted for $50,000, giving the item random bonus stats. Each enhancement resets the stats, so multiple enhancements will not stack.
29. Do the bonuses from master-crafted weapons apply only when the weapon (or armor) is used or when the weapon (or armor) is simply equipped?
The weapon (or armor) need only be equipped to confer its bonus. It does not have to be actively in use.
